Family Therapy

Is your family going through a rough patch? Does one family member's behavior have a negative impact on their family as a whole?

Some situations that may benefit from family therapy include:

  • If a family is going through a loss.
  • If a family member is suffering from a substance abuse disorder
  • If a family member has a debilitating mental health disorder
  • If there are parenting issues or a divorce
  • If a teenager is experiencing behavioral issues or emotional challenges
  • If there is a misunderstanding of another family member's intentions
  • If there is sibling conflict
  • If there are children who refuse to comply with rules or expectations

How can family therapy help?

Family therapy can help to open up a line of communication intended to better understand each individual’s perspective. This makes it easier to resolve conflicts. During the therapy sessions, each member has the ability to learn ways of communicating more effectively, as well as develop techniques to de-escalate hurt feelings before they lead to full blown arguments. This can also help with parenting problems such as conflicting parenting styles, rule enforcement, and remaining consistent with the child once the rules have been established.
